![]() ![]() As I said on page 1 though, nothing is missable. For some reason the Steam version can zoom, we cannot. Chests disappear from the map when they are opened, so it's pretty simple to see what you have and haven't done, though the map is zoomed in a lot more than I would like. Dungeons have a "?" above them when you haven't even entered them, a half-filled diamond symbol when you've entered it but haven't cleared it, and have no marking at all when they are cleared. When you press to bring up the map, there's a tracker in the far left corner that shows the number of dungeons/quests/equipment and how many of each you have. None of them are particularly difficult, and the game tracks everything for you. As for achievements, there's not too much to say. On the Dog, I used the best ranged weapon I had and the best magic boosting gear I had, and upgraded as I got better stuff. As for equipment, I actually used the Cat Soldier weapon/armor/helm throughout the game, which boosts experience gained but doesn't have the best stats. So to recap, use melee and the Freeze spell to start, and then ranged and Lightning once you get it (I will note this in the walkthrough). Lightning has a knockback effect so it helps keep enemies away. The DPS is obnoxious and outdoes melee, on top of being safer. I eventually switched to using a ranged weapon, and spamming the Lightning spell as mana permitted. Later on though, ranged becomes much more useful. As one would expect gear that boosts magic (which all ranged attacks are) tend to have less defense and HP, so not only will you have half the HP you normally would but you will have much less defense. The first is that it generally has much lower DPS than melee early on, and equipping a ranged weapon halves your max HP (only affects you when you have a ranged weapon equipped, not permanent). Ranged is the alternative, but it comes with some caveats. Combat in the beginning basically boils down to using the Freeze spell to slow enemies down and then killing them with melee. Swapping to them will move them to where you are, you don't teleport to where they are. It will randomly use spells you have equipped on them and will regenerate mana when attacking like you do. The character you are not controlling does not take damage. However shots do not track you, so they can be dodged by staying mobile. Usually the enemy simply rises into the air for a second, then slams down and shoots at you with no red indicator of where it will go. ![]() Ranged attacks are also fairly common, and they are the hardest to react to. Certain monsters can also use the same spells you can. Melee attacks are the most common, and they show up as a circle that fills with red until it is full, and then they attack. This makes dodging away from everything pretty straightforward. Almost every attack monsters make in this game is telegraphed by a red circle or other shape to show where the attack will land. All equipment affects stats, and many of them have a special bonus they give, like a longer roll distance or a % boost to a stat like magic or defense. Some shoot a bolt that homes in on enemies, some shoot in a specific pattern, and some shoot multiple projectiles. Ranged weapons are all staves/wands, and their attacks vary wildly. ![]() Melee weapons work mostly the same, with their attack range and attack speed being the main differences. There's 4 stats in the game, physical damage (sword), magic damage (wand), health (heart) and defense (shield). There's melee and ranged weapons, along with armor and hats. Equipment is the same way, either character can equip everything, but both can't equip the same thing. However only one of your two characters can equip a spell at a time. You can get 12 spells, and equip them as you like. attacks, is your dodge roll, switches between the Cat/Dog and are your spells. They can both use any piece of equipment or any spell, and have no real differences between them other than aesthetic. Despite the name of the game, your party is actually a cat and a dog. The combat in this game is pretty simple.
